KNX S-Mode devices

KNX S-Mode (system mode) primarily is characterized by the assignment of group addresses to KNX S-Mode data points to communicate process values. You can configure devices with KNX S-Mode in the Engineering Tool Software (ETS).

For more information about KNX visit http://www.knx.org.

Properties

The listed properties are displayed in the Hardware and network editor > Inspector window > Properties tab when the device with KNX S-Mode is selected in the Device view tab.

Communications fail due to insufficient KNX power supply

Communications of the KNX rail fail if the power consumption of the connected devices with KNX PL-Link and KNX S-Mode exceeds the power supplied by the internal or external power supply.

  1. Make sure that for devices with KNX S-Mode the correct value for power consumption is set in the Hardware and network editor > Inspector window > Properties > General tab.
  2. Make sure the power supplied by the internal or external power supply is larger than the power consumed by the connected devices with KNX Pl-Link and KNX S-Mode.

Device address (KNX)

"Device address (KNX)" is a text field to enter the device address. In a device with KNX S-Mode the device address equals the physical address.

Range: 1..179

Note
The automation station forces a multimode device into the KNX PL-Link mode if the Device address (KNX) is > 179 and if the automation station recognizes the multimode device as device with KNX PL-Link..
Auto addressing for devices with KNX PL-Link uses the range 182...250.
180, 181 are reserved for KNXnetIP devices.

Functions

After applying application blocks to the device with KNX S-Mode, functions are visible. The group address is used for KNX S-Mode communication. It is a function-related address, structured in three levels as per EIB guidelines.

info

The group address 0.0.0 can be assigned to functions that are not used. These functions will not be included in the export to ETS. When compiling no warning or error message will display.
