Setpoint generation
Setpoints
Each room has 8 different room temperature setpoints: One heating and cooling setpoint each for operating modes Comfort, Pre-Comfort, Economy, and Protection.

Key
TR | Room temperature |
Y | Control output |
H | Heating |
C | Cooling |
The room operating modes are used as follows:
Room operating mode | Description |
|---|---|
Comfort (Cmf) | Operating mode including the corresponding setpoints for the state: Building in use, room occupied. |
Pre-Comfort (Pcf) | Operating mode for an unoccupied room. The room temperature can be brought to the Comfort setpoint within a short period. |
Economy (Eco) | Operating mode for rooms unoccupied for a longer period of time, e.g. night or longer absence. Significantly reduces heating/cooling energy consumption. |
Protection (building) (Prt) | If buildings, wings, or even individual rooms are not used over a longer period (weekend or vacation), the setpoints for heating are reduced or cooling increased, to protect the substance of the building and its content using only very little heating or cooling energy. |
Overview

The following sources change heating and cooling setpoints for Comfort:
- The central seasonal compensation (CenSsnCmp11) adjusts the setpoints SpHCmf and SpCCmf based on the characteristic curve dependent on the outside temperature.
- Setpoints can be edited directly from the management station.
Setpoints for Pre-Comfort are calculated in the temperature control AF from the setpoints for Comfort and a difference setpoint (difference setpoint for heating or cooling DSpHPcf/DSpCPcf, default 1 K or 2.0 °F, BACnet configuration value). They can be edited via BACnet clients.
The setpoints for Comfort and Pre-Comfort can be adjusted locally at the room operator unit or a setpoint adjuster (default +/- 3 K or +/-5.4 °F, range can be changed while engineering the room operator unit).
The setpoints for Economy and Protection are configured during engineering as part of temperature control (BACnet config values). They can be edited via BACnet clients.
All resulting present setpoints are provided to the temperature control AF as BACnet objects.
Setpoint | Calculation/Configuration | Result: Present setpoints |
|---|---|---|
Heating setpoint for Comfort | SpHCmf + SpShft | PrSpHCmf |
Heating setpoint for pre-comfort | SpHCmf – DSpHPcf +SpShft | PrSpHPcf |
Heating setpoint for economy | 15 [°C] / 55 [°F] | PrSpHEco |
Heating setpoint protection | 12 [°C] / 53.6 [°F] | PrSpHPrt |
Cooling setpoint for Comfort | SpCCmf + SpShft | PrSpCCmf |
Cooling setpoint for pre-comfort | SpCCmf + DSpCPcf +SpShft | PrSpCPcf |
Cooling setpoint for economy | 35 [°C] / 85 [°F] | PrSpCEco |
Setpoint cooling for protection | 40 [°C] / 104 [°F] | PrSpCPrt |
Temperature control (xxTRCtlC11, xxTRCtlH11, xxTCasCtlC11, xxTCasCtlH11) selects one setpoint each for heating and cooling (PrSpH und PrSpC) from the setpoints as per the plant operating mode (from HvacPltMod11) and uses them to control the devices.
